A Tribe Called Judah,” the critically acclaimed comedy-drama film directed by and starring Funke Akindele, has made its way to Prime Video, four months after its record-breaking theatrical run.
The film, which also stars Jide Kene Achufusi, Timini Egbuson, Olumide Oworu, Tobi Makinde, Uzee Usman, Uzor Arukwe, Genoveva Umeh, and Boma Akpore, tells the story of five brothers (from different fathers) who plan and execute a heist to raise money for their mother’s operation.
“A Tribe Called Judah” enjoyed massive success when it hit theaters in December 2023, grossing a staggering ₦1.4 billion at the Nigerian box office, making it the highest-grossing Nigerian film of all time. It also became the first Nigerian film to cross the coveted ₦1 billion mark, a feat previously unattained by other blockbusters such as Akindele’s “Battle on Buka Street,” “Omo Ghetto: The Saga,” and Kemi Adetiba’s “The Wedding Party.”
The film’s international success was equally remarkable, earning ₦132 million at the UK box office and an additional ₦9.29 million in various Francophone countries.
With its arrival on Prime Video, audiences who missed the theatrical run now have the opportunity to experience the magic of this didactic film, while those who have already seen it can relive the laughter and emotional moments from the comfort of their homes.
