“Gingerrr” Approaches ₦200 Million in Two Weeks at Nigerian Box Office

The Nollywood heist thriller directed by Yemi Morafa has earned ₦185.8 million in just 14 days, making it one of the highest-grossing local films of the year.

The Nollywood heist thriller Gingerrr, produced and executive produced by Wunmi Toriola, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori (Kiekie), Bolaji Ogunmola, and Bisola Aiyeola, has grossed ₦185.8 million at the Nigerian box office in its first two weeks. 

 

The film is now ₦14.2 million shy of the ₦200 million benchmark.

 

Gingerrr’s opening weekend grossed over ₦70 million, ranking it seventh on Nollywood’s all-time highest-grossing openings. The film also retained the top spot for the second consecutive weekend, highlighting sustained audience interest.

 

In comparison with other local and international releases, Gingerrr’s two-week earnings surpassed the four-week run of the Japanese anime Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle (₦171.3 million) and the five-week run of The Conjuring: Last Rites (₦158.1 million).

Meanwhile, Paul Thomas Anderson’s comedy-drama One Battle After Another grossed ₦38.6 million over two weeks, illustrating the strong domestic support for Nollywood content.

 

According to The Nigerian Box Office, the top six films of the week (October 3–5, 2025) are:

 

  1. Gingerrr: ₦53.6M/₦185.8M (WK 2)
  2. One Battle After Another: ₦10.9M/₦38.6M (WK 2)
  3. The Conjuring: ₦9.8M/₦158.1M (WK 5)
  4. Him: ₦9.2M (New)
  5. Demon Slayer: ₦7.6M/₦171.3 (WK 4)
  6. Men’s Code: ₦5.3M (New)
