HBO has released the first trailer for its upcoming Harry Potter television series, offering an early look at the highly anticipated adaptation ahead of its scheduled premiere on HBO Max on December 25, 2026.
The teaser, unveiled on March 25, introduces a reimagined take on Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling, following the story of a young boy who discovers his magical identity and past connection to a feared dark wizard.
Dominic McLaughlin leads the cast as Harry Potter, alongside Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. Other cast members include John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Paapa Essiedu, Nick Frost, and Lox Pratt in key roles.
The trailer points to new additions not seen in the original film series, including expanded scenes of Harry’s life before Hogwarts and updated depictions of key elements such as Quidditch, with redesigned costumes and equipment. It also suggests a broader visual approach while retaining the story’s familiar setting.
Behind the project, Francesca Gardiner serves as showrunner and executive producer, while Mark Mylod directs multiple episodes. Additional executive producers include Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and David Heyman, with production by Warner Bros. Television and Brontë Film and TV.
