American rapper and record producer J. Cole is preparing to storm the hip-hop scene with the release of his highly anticipated album, The Fall-Off. The project is scheduled for release on February 6, 2026, via his record label Dreamville Records in partnership with Interscope Records.

So far, the album has been teased by Cole on social media through an official trailer, cover art, and the surprise release of one of its tracks, titled “Disc 2 – Track 2”. The trailer, in particular, has sparked intense conversation among fans, as the Grammy-winning artiste appears to suggest that he may be stepping away from the limelight for an extended period, letting “someone else take (his) spot” in the long-running “Big 3” hip-hop conversation that includes himself, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar.

The Fall-Off is a familiar title to long-time fans, having been teased as far back as 2018. “1985 (Intro to ‘The Fall-Off’)” served as the closing track on his 2018 album KOD. The project also appears to have been carefully planned for years. His 2016 releases “False Prophets” and “Everybody Dies” were originally intended for The Fall-Off before Cole opted to release them independently. In 2020, additional tracks such as “Lion King on Ice” and “The Climb Back” were also earmarked for the album, but were eventually compiled into his third EP, Lewis Street.

Slated to be a double album, The Fall-Off is expected to chronicle Cole’s journey as one of hip-hop’s most accomplished artistes, reflecting on his rise, his legacy, and what he envisions for the next chapter of his life beyond the spotlight.
