“Jagun Jagun” Dominates 2024 BON Awards With Six Wins

Femi Adebayo’s epic continues its award season success with multiple accolades at the prestigious event.

Femi Adebayo’s 2023 Yoruba epic, “Jagun Jagun”, emerged as the biggest winner at the 16th Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards, held at Sugar Factory Film Studios in Ilorin, Kwara State.

 

The film secured six wins out of 12 nominations, cementing its status as one of the most celebrated Nollywood projects of the year.

 

“Jagun jagun “took home awards for “Best Indigenous Film””, “Best Art Direction”” (Tunji Afolayan), “Best Director” (Tope Adebayosalami and Adebayo Tijani), “Best Special Effects” (Hakeemeffects), “Best Costume” (Lola Awe), and “Best Actor”” (Femi Adebayo).

 

Reacting to the wins, Femi Adebayo shared his gratitude on X, writing, “Congratulations to us all. Truly blessed to experience this amount of recognition, and I’m proud of the work we put in while creating this project.”

 

 

The victory at BON adds to “Jagun Jagun”’s impressive awards season streak. Earlier in November, the film clinched three awards at the 2024 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAAs) for “Best Makeup”, “Best Visual Effects”, and “Best Actor in a Supporting Role” for Adebayo. It also won “Best Indigenous Language Movie (West Africa)” and “Best Costume Design” at the 2024 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs).

 

Other notable winners at the BON Awards included Wunmi Dada as “Best Actress” for “Unknown Soja”, Keppy Ekpenyong as “Best Supporting Actor” for “The Weekend”, and Mercy Aigbe as ”

Best Supporting Actress”” for “Ada Omo Daddy”.

 

Veteran actor Kanayo O. Kanayo was honored with a “”Lifetime Achievement Award””, presented by Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Aare Abisoye Fagade of the National Institute of Hospitality and Tourism.
