The Nigerian director is one of 10 winners selected for a hands-on training workshop at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta.
Nigerian filmmaker Kaelo Iyizoba has been selected as one of the 10 winners of the Tyler Perry Dream Collective Program for emerging short film directors.
The program, which launched in April and announced its winners in July, aims to support underrepresented voices in film and television. Iyizoba and the other participants are currently attending a ten-day immersive workshop at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta.
The training includes scene experimentation, actor collaboration, and working closely with department heads. At the end of the workshop, each filmmaker will pitch their short film concept. Five finalists will be awarded $30,000 in production funding to shoot their films in Atlanta this fall, along with access to studio resources, crew support, and mentorship.
Iyizoba shared his excitement on Instagram with the caption: “Dreaming… Don’t wake me up.”
As previously reported by The Nollywood Reporter, the initiative is part of Tyler Perry’s ongoing efforts to foster diverse storytelling.
Iyizoba was also selected earlier this year for the inaugural 2025 Sundance Cultural Impact Residency. His previous works include “Mr Bold” and “Boy Meets Girl.”
