KAVA rolls out early web access as Nollywood streaming debuts in UK
KAVA, the Nigerian-owned streaming platform dedicated to Nollywood content, has launched early access on the web as part of its UK rollout.
The platform, backed by Filmhouse Group CEO Kene Okwuosa and Inkblot Productions co-founder Chinaza Onuzo, went live at kava.tv on August 21, offering more than 30 Nollywood titles. The catalogue includes recent box office hits, classics, and exclusive originals, with weekly additions planned.
First unveiled in Lagos in July, KAVA aims to serve both domestic audiences and the growing Nigerian diaspora. The UK debut is a first step in the platform’s global strategy, with mobile and smart TV apps expected in the coming weeks.
Industry watchers see the launch as a significant step for Nollywood’s digital growth, offering a centralized hub for Nigerian films and series at a time when global demand for African storytelling is rising.
