The Netflix and Sony megahit movie will return to the screen in four years.
Following its record-breaking successes, Netflix in partnership with Sony Pictures Animations has confirmed plans for KPop Demon Hunters sequel, with a release window in 2029, according to Bloomberg.
This comes on the heels of Maggie Kang, the film’s co-director’s advocacy for a sequel, citing unexplored storylines and backstories, hence, the significance of the announcement.
Meanwhile, the four-year timeline projected for KPop Demon Hunters’ return is based on the typical long duration of making animated films. This means that the release date might shift depending on the production schedules.

The original film, developed and produced by Sony, follows a fictional famous KPop girl group who double as demon hunters protecting their city with the hidden power of music.
Starring Ji-young Yoo, Arden Cho and May Hong as the Huntrix, the film has remained a fan favourite since its debut, becoming Netflix’s most-watched movie and debuting on Billboard Hot 100 Chart with its three original songs.
Following the global success of the first instalment and recently announced sequel, KPop Demon Hunters, as an animation, might be on its path to becoming a blockbuster franchise.
