“Labake Olododo: The Warrior Lord” shook the Nigerian box office hierarchy in its opening weekend by earning ₦50.5 million.

Produced by Iyabo Ojo (who also doubles as lead actress) and directed by Biodun Stephen, the Yoruba epic, unseated Disney’s “Snow White” to top the charts from March 28 to March 30, according to data from Nigerian Box Office on X.

The Nollywood Epic debuted alongside two other major titles: David Ayer’s “A Working Man” and Uduak Obong Patrick, “The Masked King.” A “Working Man” came in second with ₦37.8 million, approximately 25% less than “Labake Olododo,” while “The Masked King” debuted with a modest ₦10.2 million.

With this milestone, Iyabo Ojo joins the exclusive list of female producers whose movies have opened north of ₦50 million — a list that includes Wunmi Toriola and Funke Akindele.

“Labake Olododo” explores themes of power, loyalty, and the burdens of leadership, centering on a fearless warrior queen (played by Ojo) as she navigates the treacherous politics and betrayals within her kingdom.

The star-studded cast includes Tayo Faniran, Toyin Abraham, Fathia Balogun, Muyiwa Ademola, Scarlet Gomez, Ibrahim Chatta, and Wunmi Toriola.

Meanwhile, Nollywood Rom-com “Reel Love” continues its remarkable box office run. In its seventh weekend, Timini and Kayode Kasum’s movie still managed pull in ₦5.7 million, finishing sixth and bringing its total to ₦350 million.
