“Lisabi: The Uprising” and “Seven Doors” Steal Spotlight at AMVCA 2025

These films were among top contenders this year alongside “The Weekend”, “Skeleton Coast” and “Freedom Way.”

Nollywood films “Lisabi: The Uprising” and “Seven Doors” stole the show at the 2025 edition of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA), scooping a total of three awards each.

 

Femi Adebayo’s “Seven Doors” bagged the coveted Best Actress, Best Actor and newly introduced Best Music Score/Music category.

On the other hand, “Lisabi: The Uprising” went home with the Best Makeup, Best Art Direction and Best Indigenous Language (West Africa) awards.

 

Announced via African Magic channels, on May 10, the award categories saw both Veterans and newcomers in the Nollywood Industry compete.

 

Meanwhile, notable films like Bolanle Austen-Peters’ “House of Ga’a,” Daniel Oriah’s “The Weekend”, and Robert Peters’ “Skeleton Coast” missed out on their categories.

As one of the most anticipated African film awards, AMVCA, marked another milestone in recognising the contributions of filmmakers, actors and storytellers between January 1 and December 31, 2024.
