American actress and singer Lucy Hale is set to lead the Netflix series adaptation of the popular 2017 novel “Dead Letters” by Caite Dolan-Leach.

The “Pretty Little Liars” alum will also serve as an executive producer on the series alongside Rachel Caris Love, Liz Friedlander, Aaron Kaplan of Kapital Entertainment, Brian Morewitz of Morewitz Media, Elissa Leeds of Reel Talent Management, Mina Lefevre, and Dolan-Leach herself.

“Call Her Daddy” creator and host Alex Cooper will produce and executive produce the series under her imprint Unwell Productions. Kaplan will also serve as a producer.

Written by Love and directed by Friedlander, “Dead Letters” is a classic whodunnit tale with a psychological twist. The bond of twin sisters Ava and Zelda—both played by Hale— is shattered when Zelda dies unexpectedly. Struggling to cope with the loss, Ava returns to her family vineyard to piece together what happened to her sister because she believes her death was no accident. In her search, she discovers Zelda’s damning “dead letters,” which paint a harrowing tale. The letters send Ava down a dark rabbit hole in pursuit of answers.

The release of “Dead Letters” would mark Hale’s grand return to television following her lead role in 2021’s “Ragdoll” and a cameo appearance in Disney’s “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.” Her recent film credits include “Which Brings Me to You,” “Running on Empty,” and “F*** Marry Kill.” She is also set to star in the upcoming sci-fi film “White Mars.”

No release date has been scheduled for “Dead Letters.”
