Martins Samuel’s “The Boy in the Basement” Set for November 8 Premiere
Nigerian indie filmmaker Martins Samuel has unveiled his latest project, “The Boy in the Basement,” which will premiere on November 8, 2025, at the Historic Wilson Theatre in Fresno, California.

Co-directed with Temidayo Ibitoye, Samuel announced the project on August 13, revealing its official poster and writing on social media:
“The wait is over. The movement begins now. From the heart of California’s Central Valley comes a story that refuses to stay silent. ‘The Boy in the Basement’—an inspirational thriller shot in Fresno, Clovis, and Reedley. A voice for the voiceless.”
Written by Samuel, the film follows a haunted addict who must confront his trauma in the basement where his innocence was stolen, in order to reclaim what he left behind.

Produced by Martins Samuel Studios and Dinovate Studios, the film stars Daniel Richards, Dayce Richards, Paul Pavelski, Matthew Sanchez, Felix Mendoza, Ian McAleese, and Samuel himself.
“The Boy in the Basement” adds to Samuel’s growing body of work, which includes “Blue Baby,” “Somewhere Else,” and “The Fisherman.”
