Nollywood is set to benefit from a major technical uplift through a new international training initiative launched by the Nigerian International Film Summit (NIFS), in collaboration with the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) and TransPerfect Media.
The program is designed to strengthen the expertise of emerging film sound professionals in Nigeria.
Scheduled for October 2025, the two-week intensive training will take place in Rennes, France, with a focus on advanced sound and audio design. Seven promising Nigerian sound designers and engineers will be selected to undergo specialized training aimed at enhancing their technical skills and production standards.
The curriculum will cover core areas such as sound recording, conformation, direct editing, sound editing, foley, mixing, and mastering. Organizers say this targeted training addresses a critical gap in Nollywood’s production pipeline, where improved sound design can significantly elevate the overall quality of Nigerian film and television projects.
Participants are expected to return with improved technical capabilities and exposure to global best practices, boosting both individual careers and the competitiveness of the wider Nigerian audiovisual industry.
According to program officials, the initiative reflects NIFS’ ongoing commitment to industry development and capacity-building, with long-term benefits anticipated for both the selected talents and the broader film ecosystem.
Registration for the program opened on June 1 and will close on June 20. Interested applicants and stakeholders can stay updated through the NIFS newsletter at www.nifsummit.com.
