Nile Group, in collaboration with Screen International and Screen Nigeria, hosted an industry event during the 2025 Cannes Film Festival aimed at fostering international partnerships for Nigerian productions.
Themed “Nigeria Goes Global: An Exploration of Global Partnerships for Local Productions,” the two-part event focused on building strategic relationships between Nigerian and international film stakeholders.
The evening began with a closed-door roundtable session attended by 14 invited industry professionals. Discussions centred on co-production models, distribution opportunities, and the role of collaboration in expanding access for African content in global markets.
Following the roundtable, a cocktail reception welcomed a broader group of filmmakers, producers, distributors, and media executives. The event provided an informal setting for networking and highlighted Nigeria’s growing interest in cross-border partnerships.
Speakers at the event included Nigeria’s Honourable Minister, who reiterated government support for the creative sector, and the Lagos State Commissioner, who spoke about Lagos’ relevance as a production centre. Moses Babatope, CEO of Nile Group, delivered closing remarks on the need for long-term collaboration and increased investment in local storytelling.
Attendees included Chee Keong Cheung, Funmbi Ogunbanwo, Miguel Ángel Govea, Rachel Dargavel, and Giona Nazzaro, among others.
The event is part of ongoing efforts by Nigerian stakeholders to position the country’s film industry within wider international frameworks and to explore new models of funding, distribution, and audience engagement.
