“Oloture: The Journey” Makes Top 10 Chart on Netflix

Mo Abudu’s “Oloture: The Journey,” a Netflix original series, has catapulted Nigerian cinema into the global limelight, making an impressive entry into the platform’s top 10 chart with 1.7 million views and 3.2 million hours watched in its first week.
The announcement came from Mo Abudu herself in an Instagram post, where she shared her excitement: “’Òlòtūré: The Journey’ made it to the official Netflix top ten global chart based on our first week of viewership from July 1st to July 7th, 2024. We are number 6 on the global charts with a total of 1,700,000 views and 3,200,000 hours watched.”
Directed by Kenneth Gyang, “Oloture: The Journey” follows the experiences of an undercover journalist, played by Sharon Ooja Nwoke, who infiltrates a sex trafficking ring. The series, which premiered on June 28, 2024, is a continuation of the 2019 film “Oloture” and has captivated audiences with its narrative and powerful performances.
“It’s absolutely awesome to see NIGERIAN TV SERIES getting into the global charts! We got into the Netflix Official Top Ten Global Charts with our series, ‘Blood Sisters.’ We are doing it again right here with ‘Oloture: The Journey,’” Abudu added in the Instagram post.
Mo Abudu, a trailblazer in the Nigerian media established EbonyLife Films in 2015, debuting with “Fifty,” and has since produced several blockbusters including “The Wedding Party,” “Royal Hibiscus Hotel,” and “Elesin Oba: The King’s Horseman.”
“Oloture: The Journey” features a stellar cast including Omoni Oboli, Beverley Osu, Daniel Etim, Stan Nze, and Bukola Oladipupo.
