Paul and Anita Okoye Finally Call It Quits

Nigerian superstar Paul Okoye, who is widely known as one half of the duo P Square, and his estranged wife, Anita Isama have finally called it quits after eight years of marriage. The marriage was dissolved by an Abuja High Court in the Federal Capital Territory.

When news first broke of the couple’s estrangement in 2021, many Nigerians wondered what went wrong, but Anita, the petitioner of the divorce, provided an answer by citing pressing issues in the marriage such as Paul being an absentee father, infidelity, and fraud as propellers of her firm decision.

She also accused Paul of cheating her out of a #10 million deal. The divorce petition, signed by her lawyers, Ojonimi Akpe and Okutepa J.S, alleged that she had contributed that amount to the purchase of land and the building of a mall that her husband had just completed in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State. Before its completion, they had purportedly agreed that Anita would be granted an office space in the mall for her business, TannkCo. However, the agreement was broken, and the space was never given to her.

Anita decided to settle out of court and opted to withdraw this claim because of a lack of evidence.

She requested a $20,000 monthly settlement as well as several of her husband’s luxurious mansions.

The court in its ruling on October 20, 2022, granted the estranged couple joint custody of their three children. The petitioner did not receive alimony despite it being prayed for in court.
