Actress and producer Rahama Sadau has announced the launch of the Arewa International Film Festival (AIFF), an  initiative dedicated to celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Northern Nigeria while fostering creativity and driving industry growth.

The festival represents more than just a showcase of talent, according to Sadau, who founded the initiative to create a platform that will generate job opportunities and boost tourism in the region known for its mountains, hills, and diverse landscape.

“Arewa, the land of million miles coated with astonishing heritage, culture and resources, a beauty to behold through its mountains, hills and landscape,” Sadau said in announcing the festival, which she describes as designed to “elevate the film industry and empower the next generation of creatives.”

Alongside AIFF, Sadau introduced the Arewa Creative Workshop and Master Class (ACWM), an initiative aimed at bridging the professionalism gap in the industry. The program will ensure that filmmakers and creatives are equipped with skills to compete on the global stage.

ACWM will offer comprehensive training sessions in film production, screenwriting, graphic design and directing, cinematography, AI filmmaking and directing. The workshops represent “a transformative opportunity for aspiring and established creatives to learn, grow and refine their craft under the guidance of industry experts,” according to Sadau.

In her call to action, Sadau urged creatives: “Arewa, rise to your full potential in the committee of regions known for innovations and creativity. Show the world the skill set deposited in you craving for the opportunity. Challenge yourself to a world of unlimited possibilities and let the universe know that you are the next big thing.” urging and encouraging regional talent to embrace the opportunity.

The festival and workshop series aim to position Northern Nigeria as a significant player in the global film industry while preserving and showcasing the region’s cultural identity.

More details about the Arewa International Film Festival and Creative Workshop will be announced in the coming months.
