Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo has been honored with the Creative Industry Legend Award by the Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce (NACC).
The award recognizes his influence and contributions to Nigeria’s growing creative sector.
Speaking at the presentation, NACC National President Alhaji Sheriff Balogun highlighted Mofe-Damijo’s impact on Nollywood and the broader entertainment industry. He noted that while the sector is still evolving, it has created significant opportunities for young creatives.
“The creative industry is expanding, and we have seen Nigerian films achieve remarkable box office success. The sector has also produced globally recognized talents, such as Tems, who recently won a Grammy Award,” Balogun said.
He further emphasized Mofe-Damijo’s legacy, describing him as a key figure in the industry’s development. “His career as an actor, producer, and mentor has elevated Nollywood and showcased the potential of our creative industries on the world stage,” he added.
The Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce, founded in 1960, has played a crucial role in strengthening economic ties between Nigeria and the United States. Through trade, investment, and networking, the chamber continues to promote non-oil exports and investment in emerging sectors, including the creative economy.
