American filmmaker Ryan Coogler has confirmed that his next major project will be a reboot of the popular science fiction series, “X Files.”

While promoting his new horror film, “Sinners,” the “Black Panther” and “Creed” director appeared on Last Podcast on the Left, where he spoke about his plans for the iconic franchise.

“I’m working on ‘X Files,’ bro. I’ve been excited for that for a long time, and I’m fired up to get back to it,” he said during the interview.

Originally created by Chris Carter, “X Files” ran for nine seasons between 1993 and 2002, with additional revival seasons. The series starred Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny as FBI agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder, who investigated unsolved cases involving paranormal phenomena.

Coogler noted that while specific details are still under wraps, he hopes the reboot will appeal to both longtime fans and a new audience. “We’re gonna try to make something really great, bro, and really be something for the real ‘X Files’ fans, and maybe find some new ones,” he added.

He also confirmed that he has been in contact with Gillian Anderson, amid ongoing speculation about her potential involvement in the new series.
