Sabrina Carpenter’s “Man’s Best Friend” Debuts Atop the Billboard 200
American singer-songwriter Sabrina Carpenter is back at the summit of the Billboard 200. Her seventh studio album, Man’s Best Friend, released on August 29, 2025, has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart dated September 13, 2025. It dethrones former leader KARMA by Stray Kids, bumping it from No. 1 to No. 4.
According to Luminate, Man’s Best Friend sold a total of 366,000 equivalent album units in the United States. Of that sum, 224,000 were traditional album sales. This marks a career best for the singer, as her sixth studio album, Short ‘n’ Sweet—released in September 2024—opened with 362,000 equivalent album units, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and spent four non-consecutive weeks at the summit.
Man’s Best Friend makes history as the biggest debut week for a woman in 2025 in terms of units and album sales. It dethrones Lady Gaga’s Mayhem, which debuted with 219,000 units. Carpenter also broke the Spotify record for the most-streamed album in a single day by a female artist in 2025.
On the leaderboard for the highest number of album units and album sales, it is the third-biggest overall in both categories, being surpassed by acts like Morgan Wallen’s I’m The Problem, Stray Kids’ KARMA, and The Weekend’s Hurry Up Tomorrow.

Before its release, Man’s Best Friend was supported by the lead single Manchild, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The subsequent single Tears was released on the same day as the album and debuted at No. 3 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100. Carpenter now has a total of five career top ten singles on the chart.
Outside of the United States, the album debuted at No. 1 on the UK Official Albums chart, marking her second album to top the charts following Short ‘n’ Sweet.
Man’s Best Friend debuting at the summit of the Billboard 200 comes fresh off the Grammy winner’s success at the MTV VMAs, where she won three awards—Best Album for Short ‘n’ Sweet, Best Pop Artist, and Best Editing for the Manchild music video.
