Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” has emerged as the highest-grossing film of the weekend in Nigeria, according to official box office data released by Film One Nigeria. Since its April 18 release, the film has earned a combined ₦79.6 million across cinemas in Nigeria and Ghana.
Globally, “Sinners” has now grossed $63.5 million, as previously predicted by TNR, making it the biggest domestic opening for an original film this decade.
In the United States, it debuted at number one with $48 million, surpassing “A Minecraft Movie,” which slipped to second place. Other competing titles include “The King of Kings,” “The Amateur,” and “Warfare.”
The vampire thriller has also received notable acclaim, including an A grade from CinemaScore an achievement no horror film has reached in more than 35 years. It has further been awarded the Critics’ Choice Seal of Distinction, reinforcing its strong critical reception.

Given the positive audience response and strong box office performance, “Sinners” is already being discussed as a potential contender for next year’s major award ceremonies, including a possible Oscar nomination for Best Picture.
