Somto Ihezue’s “On Our Skin” to Screen at Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival 2025

The short film, which explores supernatural resistance to censorship, is part of the official selection lineup for TINFF in Canada.

Nigerian filmmaker Somto Ihezue’s short film “On Our Skin” has been officially selected to screen at the 2025 Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF), scheduled for September 6 to 13 in Canada.

 

Co-directed by Abiodun Udom and Emmanuel Adeojo, and co-written by Innocent Chizaram, the film explores a supernatural uprising in response to book censorship. It features performances by Korede Lawal, Johnson Ibeh, Lawrence Olajumoke, Anthony Nwahiri, and Magret Chetachi.

Ihezue, who made the announcement via social media on April 23, credited the film’s collaborators and partners for helping bring the project to life. “On Our Skin” was produced under the EbonyLife Creative Academy Alumni Grant, in partnership with Android Press, and co-produced by Bella Nadia Bemigho, Emmy Williams, and Oreoluwa Obadofin.

 

The film joins other entries at TINFF 2025 including “Night Shift,” “Don’t Read My Diary,” “Whispers of Freedom,” and “I Write, You Draw.”
