StoryMi Academy has announced plans to host the January edition of Docuscreen Nigeria, screening the Kenyan documentary Between the Rains across five cities in the country.
The event, organised in partnership with Sima Studios, will take place in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Kano, Benin, and Maiduguri between January 23 and 30, marking the academy’s first Docuscreen outing of 2026.
The announcement follows the December edition, which featured Nation Forgotten by Nigerian filmmaker Omoregie Osapkolor, a documentary examining the experiences of retired public servants left without state support.

Directed by Andrew H. Brown and Moses Thuranira, Between the Rains is set in northern Kenya and follows two generations of pastoralist men confronting prolonged drought and shifting traditions.
According to StoryMi Academy, the film explores themes of land, inheritance, and survival, focusing on how environmental change reshapes community life and personal responsibility.
Docuscreen Nigeria is a monthly screening platform by StoryMi Academy designed to present documentary films and encourage post-screening conversations around social issues.
