The stage production “Dear Father” delves into the increasing cases of femicide and the role of men in addressing gender-based violence.
Set to run from June 12 to 14 at The Fireworks Factory in London, the play follows Nike, a young woman who begins questioning her father’s sacrifices, leading to a confrontation of difficult truths.
Led by Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), who returns to the London stage after four decades, “Dear Father” explores the weight of silence, love, and responsibility.
Directed by Mofe Duncan and Akomolafe Abimbol, the production features Idia Aisien and Kunle Remi in their stage debuts, alongside Tomi Ojo, Tobi Bakre, Akin Lewis, Ronke Oshodi, and Mike Edwards.
The play is based on a story from the SUMI Writers “Atewo Collection”, part of the “Invincible Hands” catalogue. The SUMI Group, a masked collective of writers and poets, has worked anonymously on various projects for decades.
With tickets selling fast, “Dear Father” is set to be a compelling addition to the Father’s Day weekend lineup.
