Susan Pwajok’s “Lowkey Adults” to Premiere on July 12

Susan Ganchung Pwajok’s “Lowkey Adults” is set to premiere on July 12, 2025, via her YouTube channel, SusanPwajokTV.

 Co-written and co-directed by Fatimah Binta Gimsay, the 80-minute film presents a coming-of-age story that follows the emotional and relational entanglements of university-age characters.

The film centers on Jaiyeola (played by Pwajok), who makes a bold bet to win over Hamza (Shamz Garuba), the mysterious rival of her ex-boyfriend. As Jaiyeola’s friends: Itohan, Chisom, and Korede—get drawn into the unfolding drama, the story evolves into a broader reflection on young adulthood, heartbreak, and the shifting dynamics of friendship and identity.

“Lowkey Adults” is co-directed by Stephanie Dadet (Unscripted) and produced by Nneka Ezealor and Fatimah Binta Gimsay, who also serves as co-executive producer alongside Pwajok. The cast includes Adeoluwa Akintoba, Mallum Arik, and Omosalewa Fafowora. Chris Udomi is credited as the film’s production designer.

Speaking on the film, Gimsay noted that “Lowkey Adults” was developed to push creative boundaries while delivering a story that feels authentic to its audience. “It’s a refreshing take on a familiar trope within the young adult genre,” she said. “While there are romantic elements, it’s ultimately a heartfelt character piece.”

The film marks a collaboration between emerging talents in Nollywood, offering a grounded yet vibrant depiction of early adulthood and the choices that define it.
