Malcolm-Jamal Warner, the American actor and singer best known for his role as Theodore Huxtable on “The Cosby Show,” has died at the age of 54.
The actor reportedly drowned on July 21 while vacationing with his family on Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast.
According to local authorities, Warner died from asphyxia due to drowning while swimming at Playa Grande in Limón Province.

Born in New Jersey, Warner began his acting career at age 9 and rose to fame as a teenager for his portrayal of Theo Huxtable, the only son of Heathcliff (Bill Cosby) and Claire Huxtable (Phylicia Rashad), on the NBC sitcom that aired from 1984 to 1992.
In 1986, he received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on “The Cosby Show.”
