The Nigerian short film joins the official selection for the Milwaukee Illuminate Film Festival 2025.
“Nne,” written and directed by Chidinma Uzozie, popularly known as Thecla Uzozie, will make its US debut on September 7 at the 2025 Milwaukee Illuminate Film Festival (MIFF).
The Multichoice Talent Factory and Zee World-sponsored short screened earlier this year at Nolly Femme in celebration of International Women’s Day. MIFF announced its selection of “Nne” on August 13 via Instagram, confirming it will be featured in the festival’s shorts program.
The psychological drama stars Michael Ejoor (“To Kill a Monkey”), Bukola Thomas (“The Intern”), and Jasmine Howson-Wright Ekumah. It follows Sarah Okoh, a woman who suffers postpartum psychosis after succumbing to her mother-in-law’s pressure to have a son. The film explores the mental health challenges mothers face after childbirth.
As part of MIFF’s Nigerian representation, “Nne” is scheduled to screen on September 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Avalon Theatre in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
