The historical play starring Femi Adebayo and Ibrahim Chatta to show November 7–8 at Woolwich Fireworks Factory
“Thrones of Ashes: Iku Baba Yeye” Set for London Stage Run
The stage play Thrones of Ashes: Iku Baba Yeye, led by Nollywood stars Femi Adebayo and Ibrahim Chatta, will be staged in London this November.
The production is scheduled for November 7 and 8 at the Woolwich Fireworks Factory, marking another international outing for Nigerian theatre.
Directed by Toyin Oshinaike, with Mofe Duncan as assistant director, the play explores the Old Oyo Empire through the rivalry between Igboho and the Ajakakus over the Aja-Kure trade route. The conflict highlights themes of power, betrayal, and identity, with echoes of Nigeria’s later fight for independence.
Alongside Adebayo and Chatta, the cast includes Ronke Oshodi Oke, Akin Lewis, Taiwo Hassan, Gabriel Afolayan, and Damilola Oni.
Produced by The Sumi Group, the company behind Dear Father—which featured Richard Mofe-Damijo’s return to stage after four decades—Thrones of Ashes: Iku Baba Yeye continues the group’s commitment to mounting large-scale Nigerian productions for international audiences.
