Tyler Perry, founder of Tyler Perry Studios and award-winning director of “The Six Triple Eight” and “Beauty in Black,” has launched a new initiative aimed at identifying and nurturing emerging filmmakers.
Titled The Dream Collective, the program is designed to cultivate underrepresented and under-recognized voices in the film and television industry. It officially launched on March 27, and will begin accepting applications on April 17, 2025.
The program will run virtually over four weeks and focus on the development of short films. It aims to foster connections between aspiring directors and industry professionals while providing hands-on training, mentorship, and guidance on career sustainability.
Open to filmmakers based in the United States who are at least 21 years old, the initiative will culminate with five grand prize winners receiving $30,000 each to produce a short film in Atlanta, Georgia.
