The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), in conjunction with the Fund of Export Development in Africa (FEDA), has joined forces with JVL Media, co-founded by Viola Davis aimed at establishing a collaboration to improve African storytelling through publishing and filmmaking.

The groundbreaking partnership was announced on the actress’ Instagram page, solidified through a Memorandum of Intent, signed by Viola Davis, and inked during the AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum (ACTIF) 2024 in Nassau, Bahamas.

Davis’ commitment to African filmmaking can be seen in the projects she has been involved in, which include the upcoming action-thriller “G20” filmed in Cape Town, and the critically acclaimed “The Woman King” (2022).

Also, Afreximbank has been instrumental in supporting the African film industry and a pivotal force in the growth of African filmmaking through ways such as the One Billion dollar African Film Fund for 2024 to sort Africa’s film industry by overseeing film financing, co-financing with large studios, and providing financial support to African filmmakers, producers, and directors.
