The actor and producer reveals how the film’s human trafficking theme and Pan-African perspective make it one of Nollywood’s most urgent social thrillers.
Nigerian actor and producer Taiwo Adeyemi has described 3 Cold Dishes, directed by Oluseyi Asurf and executive produced by Burna Boy, as a powerful social commentary on human trafficking and resilience.
Speaking with The Nollywood Reporter at the film’s premiere in Lagos, Adeyemi revealed that beyond his role as an actor, he was also part of the story development team that conceived and shaped the plot.

“I’m more of a crew member on this project,” he said. “We developed the story myself, the producers, and the director. We went on a road trip to Burkina Faso, and that’s where the idea was born.”
The multilingual revenge thriller, set across Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, and Benin, follows three women who reunite years after surviving human trafficking to take justice into their own hands.
“The story is very important because it’s about human trafficking and powerful women. These are stories that need to be told,” Adeyemi explained.

Known for his performances in The Writer and Ada Omo Daddy, Adeyemi added that beneath the film’s tension lies a universal message “Love, because love conquers all.”
3 Cold Dishes has received wide recognition, winning Best World Film at the Harlem International Film Festival and earning multiple nominations at the 2025 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).
