Showmax has added the highly anticipated HBO documentary Wizkid: Long Live Lagos to its December lineup, giving Nigerian audiences access to the film despite HBO Max not being available locally.
Premiering on December 28, 2025, the documentary follows Grammy-winning artiste Ayodeji “Wizkid” Balogun as he prepares for his historic performance at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Directed by Karam Gill, the 83-minute feature explores Wizkid’s rise from Lagos to global stardom while addressing stereotypes and misrepresentations of African music in Western media.
The film includes appearances from Femi Anikulapo-Kuti, Jada Pollock, Julie Adenuga, Seni Saraki, Sunday Are, Karen Binns, Tops, and fans reflecting on Wizkid’s influence across Africa and the diaspora. It premiered earlier this year at the Tribeca Film Festival, where it was praised for its cultural depth and personal storytelling.
Other notable December releases on Showmax include Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Novocaine, and comedy specials such as The Chair Company and Tiffany Haddish Goes Off.
