Nigerian singer Yemi Alade has released You Are ( “Iyanu” ), the original soundtrack for the upcoming Showmax x Lion Forge Entertainment animated series “Iyanu”.
The song debuted on March 13, 2025, ahead of the series’ June 13, 2025, premiere on Showmax.
Produced by Michael Hodges, known for his work on Blade Runner 2049 and The Garfield Movie (2024), the track is described as a celebration of Yoruba mythology and heritage. Alade, widely known as “Mama Africa,” said the song highlights strength and self-discovery.
“Music has always been a powerful way to tell our stories, and ‘You Are ( “Iyanu” )’ is a song that speaks to our strength and divine power,” she said.
Inspired by Nigerian folklore, “Iyanu” follows a young orphan who discovers her supernatural abilities while uncovering ancient secrets in Yorubaland.
The series will debut in the U.S. on Cartoon Network and Max in April 2025, before launching on Showmax in Africa.
