Stitches will hit Nigerian cinemas on November 28, 2025, marking the Nollywood debut of award-winning Ghanaian filmmaker Shirley Frimpong-Manso.
The film stars Dakore Akande as Boma, a gifted fashion designer whose personal tragedy propels her into Lagos’ high-society fashion world. The cast also includes Tomi Ojo, Jemima Osunde, Chimezie Imo, Martha Ehinome, Nasboi, and Regina Askia, blending seasoned actors with emerging talents.
The film premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival as part of the Industry Selects program, showcasing titles with strong potential for international distribution. Produced by BRS Studios, founded in 2024 by Joy Efe Odiete, Ramsey Nouah, and Chris Odeh, Stitches follows the success of their Netflix release Tokunbo, which ranked among the platform’s top 10 films in over 50 countries.

In the story, Boma leaves her modest sewing room to work at her estranged aunt’s prestigious fashion house. Driven to make her mark in an intensely competitive industry, she navigates social class barriers while striving to establish her voice and fulfill her ambitions. Along the way, she attracts the attention of a prominent fashion philanthropist and develops a bond with her son, a compassionate pediatrician. Against the backdrop of Lagos’ vibrant culture, the film explores ambition, love, resilience, and the pursuit of acceptance.
Stitches highlights contemporary Nigerian storytelling while offering a narrative that resonates with both local and international audiences.
