Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde will make her directorial debut with Mother’s Love, a family drama scheduled for nationwide release in Nigerian cinemas on March 6, 2026. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025 and will now begin its local theatrical run.
The story follows Adebisi, a sheltered young woman from a wealthy but tightly controlled home whose outlook begins to change during her National Youth Service year. As she forms new relationships and gains distance from her family, the film shifts its focus to her mother, whose quiet presence gives way to decisive action when her daughter’s safety and future come under threat.

Positioned as a character-driven drama, Mother’s Love explores themes of maternal sacrifice, unresolved grief, and the emotional pressures within patriarchal family structures. The project also marks a significant step for Jalade-Ekeinde, who has spent decades in front of the camera and now moves into directing with a story centred on women and family dynamics.
Jalade-Ekeinde stars in the film alongside Ifeanyi Kalu, Olumide Oworu, and Noray Nehita. Mother’s Love opens in cinemas across Nigeria on March 6.
