Biodun Stephen’s “Trade by Bata” Sets To Hit The Cinemas

Trade by Bata is set to arrive in cinemas nationwide on April 17. 

 

The comedy fantasy film, described as funny, emotional, and ridiculous, stars Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, Bolanle Ogunmola, Adebimpe Akintunde, Adebowale Adedayo, Eso Dike, and introduces Solape Ogundimu. It is directed by Biodun Stephen and produced by Funmiade Bank-Anthony. 

 

Distributed by Cinemax, the story follows a proud Nigerian-American girl who returns to her village to visit her grandmother. Initially looking down on everyone, her life takes a wild turn when a supernatural twist forces her to speak the local dialect, complicating her relationships and sense of identity.

 

The film premiered at the 2025 Nollywood Week Film Festival in Paris, exploring themes of identity, family, cultural differences, and the importance of choosing to do the right thing regardless of ego.
