Lilian Afegbai has reacted to the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) nominations, expressing disappointment over her omission from the Best Supporting Actress category.

The actress, who featured as Idia in To Kill A Monkey, a series by Kemi Adetiba, said her performance warranted consideration.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Afegbai maintained that while she does not rely on awards for validation, she believes her role stood out. “I don’t need a nomination for validation. The truth is clear. Nobody trended like Idia last year. Her acting was 100 percent,” she wrote.

Lilian Afegbai is a Nigerian actress and former Big Brother Africa contestant. She has acting and production credits across titles like Road to Yesterday (2015), Pepper Soup (2015), Bound (2018), and Dark Past.

Afegbai played Idia, the wife of Oboz, portrayed by Bucci Franklin, in the 2025 series. Her character drew attention for its distinct personality and on-screen presence.

Her reaction has generated mixed responses online, with some viewers supporting her claim, while others criticised her remarks as unnecessary.

The Best Supporting Actress category for the 2026 edition includes Linda Ejiofor, Bisola Aiyeola, Funke Akindele, Olamide Kidbaby, Sola Sobowale, Nadia Dutch, Amal Umar, and Juliebrenda Nyambura.
