Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated mythological epic The Odyssey is set to arrive in cinemas on July 17, 2026.
Written and directed by the Oscar-winning filmmaker, the film is based on Homer’s The Odyssey, one of the two foundational epics of ancient Greek literature. The story follows the legendary Greek hero Odysseus on his perilous journey home after the Trojan War.
Matt Damon leads the cast as Odysseus, the King of Ithaca, whose voyage is filled with mythical creatures, divine intervention and life-threatening challenges as he struggles to reunite with his wife, Penelope, played by Anne Hathaway, and his son, Telemachus.
The ensemble cast also features Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Samantha Morton, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron and Jon Bernthal.
Produced by Nolan and Emma Thomas under their Syncopy banner, The Odyssey was made on a reported budget of $250 million, making it the filmmaker’s most expensive production to date.
Distributed by Universal Pictures, The Odyssey marks Nolan’s first foray into Greek mythology and one of the year’s most anticipated theatrical releases when it opens in cinemas nationwide on July 17.
