Omoni Oboli has announced the return of her acclaimed film series “Wives on Strike” with a new installment titled “The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3.” The announcement was made via Oboli’s Instagram on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.
“It’s finally here, and my heart is brimming with gratitude and excitement! Returning to the big screen with ‘The Uprising – Wives on Strike’ feels like coming home,” Oboli wrote.
The original “Wives on Strike” premiered in 2016, followed by a successful sequel, “Wives on Strike: The Revolution,” in 2018. The satirical films center on a group of women who withhold sex from their husbands to compel them to act against child marriage and gender-based violence in their community. Though humorous, the films address serious issues faced by women.
In her Instagram post, Oboli expressed gratitude to her cast and crew, stating, “This journey has been one of passion, perseverance, and unwavering dedication, and I couldn’t be prouder to share it with you all. To my incredible cast and crew, thank you for your tireless efforts and belief in this project. And to my fans, my besties, your love and support have been my guiding light through it all.”
The cast for “The Uprising” includes returning stars Chioma Akpotha, Uche Jombo, Oboli, and Ufuoma McDermott. Exciting new additions to the cast include veteran actress Hilda Dokubo, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori (KieKie), and May Yul-Edochie.
Oboli, known for other notable films such as “Moms at War” and “Being Mrs. Elliot,” confirmed that the new film will be released in the fourth quarter of the year.
