Grammy-nominated Afrobeats star Asake has finally released his third studio album, “Lungu Boy,” featuring collaborations with global music heavyweights.

The 14-track album includes appearances by fellow Afrobeats sensation Wizkid, U.K. grime artists Stormzy and Central Cee, American rapper Travis Scott, and Brazilian Latin Grammy winner Ludmilla.

The experimental album contains a mix of familiar sounds like Afrofusion, Afrobeats, and Fuji music, and unfamiliar sounds like Brazilian funk wave, trap and house music.

The lead single off “Lungu Boy,” “Active” featuring American rapper Travis Scott, was released on Aug. 7 and has garnered over 3 million views on YouTube.

Known to fans as “Mr. Money with the Vibe,” Asake rose to fame in 2022 with hit singles “Omo Ope” and “Sungba.” His debut album, “Mr. Money with the Vibe,” released under the YBNL label, earned critical acclaim and took home Album of the Year at the 2023 Headies Awards.

Asake’s sophomore effort, “Work of Art,” released in 2023, spawned the lead single “Amapiano,” which garnered a nomination for Best African Music Performance at the 66th Grammy Awards.

The Nigerian artist is currently on his Lungu Boy World Tour, which kicked off June 26 at Afro Nation Portugal. The tour spans Europe and North America before wrapping up at the Promiseland Festival in Gold Coast, Australia, on Oct. 6.
