The Biennale College Cinema has announced its 2024/25 selection, with the Kenyan-Nigerian project “1 Woman, 1 Bra” standing out as the sole African film in the lineup.

Directed by Kenyan filmmaker Vincho Nchogu and produced by Nigerian Josh Olaoluwa, the film is one of 12 projects chosen for the prestigious program.

The announcement was made during the 81st Venice International Film Festival, where the selected teams—comprising directors and producers—were revealed. They will attend the first 10-day workshop in Venice, running from October 8 to 17, 2024.

As a first feature film, “1 Woman, 1 Bra” represents a significant milestone for Nchogu and Olaoluwa, who have previously collaborated on international platforms such as the Red Sea Lodge and Torino Film Lab. The project now has a chance to compete for one of four production slots, with potential funding of up to €200,000 and a premiere at the 82nd Venice Film Festival.
