The April 10–16 box office week in Nigeria showed a closely matched performance between local and international titles, with Nollywood slightly ahead in total earnings despite strong competition from Hollywood releases.
According to data from the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN), the top ten films collectively grossed ₦214 million during the period.
Nollywood titles accounted for ₦112 million of the total, largely driven by The Return of Arinzo, which topped the chart with ₦72.7 million. The Iyabo Ojo-led thriller contributed a significant share of the week’s earnings and has now grossed ₦247 million overall.
Foreign titles followed closely with ₦101 million. The rom-com You, Me & Tuscany led the international slate with a ₦38.2 million debut, while The Super Mario Galaxy Movie added ₦24.6 million in its second week. Sony’s Project Hail Mary maintained steady performance in its fourth week, earning ₦13 million, reflecting a 36 percent drop from the previous week’s ₦18 million.
Other notable entries included The Creek (₦21 million), Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (₦13.8 million), They Will Kill You (₦11.7 million), Eri (₦6.8 million), Mother’s Love (₦6.4 million), and Onobiren (₦6.1 million).
The week’s figures point to a relatively balanced split between local and foreign titles, with Nollywood maintaining a slight edge in overall box office share.
