After four weeks at the global box office, Wicked: For Good is nearing the half-a-billion dollar mark.

On its fourth weekend, the second part to 2024’s Wicked, a musical adaptation of the Broadway stage play of the same name grossed $8.6 million domestically and $7.7 million overseas. The domestic figure represents a steep 50% drop from the previous weekend and compares unfavorably to Wicked’s $22.6 million haul (a 37.9% decline) during the same frame.

The film’s $467.9 million global total comprises $312.1 million from the United States, where it is projected to finish with no more than $350 million, and $155.8 million from 78 international markets.

With releases in China and Japan still pending next year, analysts are forecasting a final worldwide run between $540 million and $590 million.

As it stands, Wicked: For Good is now the third highest-grossing musical adaptation of all time, surpassing Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again ($402.3 million) and Les Misérables ($442.8 million).

Its box office momentum is expected to taper further with the arrival of James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash, which opens globally on December 19.
