Since the success of the global phenomenon “Anikulapo” was released in 2022, Nollywood filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan has been relatively quiet. But he is back with Ìjọ̀gbọ̀n, another project that is bound to be a streaming goldmine.

” Ìjọ̀gbọ̀n”, which literally means “Trouble”, tells the tale of four teenagers who get more than what they bargain for when they discover diamonds buried in the soil of their village. Seeing it as a means to escape their reality, they band together to protect their “loot.” Little do they know that the real owners of the diamonds are out for blood, and they would stop at nothing to collect back what is theirs, even if it means burning the entire village to the ground.

Produced and directed by Afolayan, the film was shot at the Kunle Afolayan Production (KAP) Film Village and Resort in Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State. It was written by Tunde Babalola, a frequent collaborator of Afolayan. They have worked together on successful projects such as “October 1”, “Citation”, and “Mokalik.”

Cast members include notable Nollywood faces such as Gabriel Afolayan, Bimbo Manuel, Adunni Ade, Sam Dede, Femi Branch, Yemi Solade, and Bolaji Amusan. Newcomers such as Dorathy Bachor, Oluwaseyi Ebiesuwa, Kayode Junior Ojuolape, Fawa Aina, and Ruby Akubueze will also be gracing the big screen.

“Ìjọ̀gbọ̀n” is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix on Oct.13.
