Folagbade Banks’ A Mama Deola Wedding Story is set to premiere exclusively on Kava on September 3, 2026.
The feature film, which marks Kava’s first original production, is produced and led by Banks, who is known for his popular Mama Deola skits built around Yoruba humor, family dynamics, and everyday Nigerian experiences.
A Mama Deola Wedding Story centers on a lavish wedding and brings the Mama Deola character into a feature-length story. The film draws on Nigerian wedding traditions, family relationships, and nostalgia, with elements inspired by the 1980s and 1990s incorporated into its production design.
Omowunmi Dada and Rotimi Salami play the central wedding couple, while Shaffy Bello, Bukky Wright, Iya Rainbow, Erica Nlewedim, Toyin Adegbola, Femi Adebayo, Blessing Jessica Obasi and Busayo Bello are among the supporting cast.
Femi Adebayo Salami directs the film, with Banks serving as producer and executive producer. Michael Joseph is credited with the film’s visuals.
Production took place at locations including Ziba Beach Resorts and Vintage African Lagos, with the film featuring a large wedding sequence involving an extensive cast and extras.
The September 3 premiere marks a new step for Kava, which commissioned the film as its first fully original production. The platform has continued to build its catalogue around Nigerian and African films for audiences on the continent and in the diaspora.
A Mama Deola Wedding Story will be available exclusively on Kava from September 3, 2026.
