The film follows a community thrown into turmoil as past promises and hidden truths resurface, straining relationships between families and longtime allies. At its core, the story examines accountability, betrayal, and the ripple effects of choices once ignored.

Directed and produced by Segun Ogungbe, Irete: The Reckoning features a strong ensemble cast, including Faithia Williams, Sola Sobowale, Dele Odule, Deyemi Okanlawon, Femi Adebayo, Odunlade Adekola, Wumi Toriola, and Broda Shaggi. Ogungbe told The Nollywood Reporter that the narrative required actors capable of conveying complex emotional tension while reflecting the consequences of personal and collective decisions.

“The film looks at how decisions, promises, and secrets shape lives and communities,” Ogungbe said. “We wanted to show these tensions realistically, giving each character space to express the weight of their choices.”

The story centres on a sacred oath that is broken, setting off a chain of events that challenges loyalties and tests moral boundaries. The plot highlights the cost of ignoring the past and explores the emotional stakes of betrayal and accountability.

Irete: The Reckoning is expected to resonate with audiences seeking drama grounded in human relationships and moral dilemmas, with strong performances driving the narrative.
