Kenneth Gyang’s “This Is Lagos” Promises Cinematic Spectacle on Christmas Day

Kenneth Gyang’s latest creation, “This Is Lagos,” gears up for its much-awaited big screen debut on Christmas Day. The film, produced by Kenneth Gyang, Tom Rowlands-Rees, and Jide Makinde, with Charles Okpaleke as the Executive Producer, is poised to offer audiences a unique blend of humor and drama.

 

Adapted from a published short story by Crispin Oduobuk-MfonAbasi, the screenplay’s collaborative effort by the talented trio was finalized in 2013, with Paul Walman contributing as the director of photography. Directed by Kenneth Gyang, the film unravels the intriguing journey of Stevo, portrayed by the brilliant Gabriel Afolayan, in his quest for superstardom in a city where masks are the norm.

 

The ensemble cast, boasting names like Ikechukwu Onunaku, Rahama Sadau, Kate Henshaw, Enyinna Nwigwe, Sani Muazu, David Jones David, Greg Ojefua, Mike Afolarin, Jibrin Homsuk, with a special appearance by music sensation Jesse Jagz and introducing Laura Pepple, promises a visual feast for cinema enthusiasts.

Kenneth Gyang, already a luminary in the Nigerian film industry, has garnered acclaim for his previous works, with “Oloture” on Netflix standing out as a testament to his global influence and pioneering contributions to the country’s cinema landscape. As one of the founding members of Cinema KpataKpata, a production company in collaboration with Yinka Edwards and Tom Rowlands-Rees, Gyang continues to leave an indelible mark on the industry.

 

Partnering with Technical Magic Media, owned by Jide Makinde, who also serves as an Executive Producer alongside Olanrewaju Olalusi.

 

“This Is Lagos” is set to join the ranks of films gracing the festive month. With its promise of a unique blend of humor and drama, the film aims to provide an unforgettable cinematic experience, unraveling the complexities of life in the vibrant city of Lagos.
