Marvel’s first family is returning to the big screen once again for an epic tale out of space in “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.” The film will be released in theatres worldwide on Jul. 25, 2025.
Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach will play the iconic roles of Mr Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing, respectively.
The quartet will feature in a retro-futuristic 1960s filled with technological advancements and space explorations. They will face off against their nemesis, Galactus (Ralph Ineson), whose insatiable hunger for consuming the life force of planets threatens Earth’s existence.
Added to the mix is Galactus’ metal-skinned herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner), whose cosmic powers throw a wrench in the heroes’ plans.
Following the commercial and critical failure of 2015’s “Fantastic Four,” 20th Century Fox (which has been acquired by Disney) felt the need to redeem itself by making another film that truly reflected the origin story of the Fantastic Four. As Disney passed the torch over to Marvel, the goal was to create a film that felt fresh to audiences, but at the same time, paid homage to the classic Marvel Comics’ depiction of these iconic characters and their exploits.
News of the “new Fantastic Four” hit the airwaves in early 2024 with “WandaVision” director Matt Shakman tapped to direct the film. It is produced by Kevin Feige and will be distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
As the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) continues to expand, “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is poised to be a pivotal addition, setting the stage for the team’s involvement in future Avengers films. Notably, the quartet will be making guest appearances in “Avengers: Doomsday” (2026) and “Avengers: Secret Wars” (2027). Fans are eager to see the impact they will have in the MCU.
With a stellar cast and dedicated crew, “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is shaping up to be the summer cinematic event of the year.
