The last time we heard from Matthew Vaughn, he was wrapping up the “Kingsman” franchise that had captured the hearts of millions around the world. Now, the acclaimed English filmmaker is set to turn heads again with the spy flick, “Argylle,” an adaptation of a book of the same name by Elly Conway.
With a well-cut trailer, the film chronicles the adventures of British spy Agent Argylle who is one of Conway’s creations. Fictional as he might be, Conway’s real life and that of Argylle’s start to collide when the plot thickens, and she starts prophesying events through her words. Soon, she gets entangled with an underground criminal organization determined to kill her because of her “prophetic pen.”
Henry Cavill stars as Agent Argylle and Bryce Dallas Howard as Elly Conway. Sam Rockwell, Dua Lipa, Catherine O’Hara, Bryan Cranston, Ariana DeBose, John Cena, Samuel L. Jackson, Sofia Boutella, and Jing Lusi round up the film’s star-studded cast.
Speaking on “Argylle,” Vaughn says that he plans to make the film a franchise just like “Kingsman,” thus a second and third installment have already been mapped out.
“Argylle” is scheduled for an initial theatrical release on Feb. 2. Subsequently, it will be released on AppleTV+ on a yet-to-be-determined date.
