Nigerian romantic comedy film “Meeting Funmi’s Parents” is set for its theatrical release on January 26, 2024.
“Meeting Funmi’s Parents” stars Omowunmi Dada as Funmi, who returns home to Nigeria from the U.S. with her new fiancé, Ramon Thomson. But Funmi’s traditional parents don’t approve of Ramon and threaten the relationship. Sensing an opportunity is her charming ex, Timini, played by Timini Egbuson.
As tensions escalate between Funmi’s parents and Ramon, Timini turns up the charm to try and rekindle the old flame with Funmi. Will he successfully come between the couple, or will Funmi stand by her choice no matter what her parents or tempting ex-boyfriend try?
Written and directed by Kevin Apaa and produced under the Belmont Pictures label, “Meeting Funmi’s Parents” wrapped filming in 2022 and stars Tina Mba, Taiwo Ajayi-Lycett, Sophie Alakija, Emmanuel Ikubese, Alvin Abayomi, Rotimi Adelegan, Broda Shaggi, Sophia Chisom and appearances from Femi Durojaiye, Saka Hafiz Oyetoro, and Tiago Gom.
Kelvin Apaa took to his Instagram page to reveal the film’s poster, and he revealed that the film has been in development for an extensive period leading up to its impending release and urges viewers to anticipate its release.
After past success with 2023’s “Dinner at My Place”, Apaa brings his talent for crafting entertaining stories about relationships to this new project.
Moviegoers can look forward to the film’s cinematic release on January 26, 2024. With dramatic parental disapproval, a rival suitor, and complex romantic history to fuel complications, “Meeting Funmi’s Parents” shapes up as a thoroughly modern Nigerian romcom.
